The Q16-Maas field was discovered in August 2011 by the drilling of a long reach exploration well from an onshore drilling location on the Maasvlakte to a target 3.5km offshore. ONE is the operator and has a 49% stake in the field. While the well target lies in the Q16bc license, the field straddles the P18b, T01, S03 and Botlek licenses.
A high-capacity treatment plant, producing three separate products
Upon discovering the high condensate/gas ratio of the gas at the Q16-Maas field, ONE decided to add an LPG-stripping facility to the gas treatment plant design, to be located next to the well site. The treatment plant separates the wellstream into one gas and three liquid streams: condensate, propane and butane, which are each sold as separate products.
After treatment, the gas is compressed and delivered to the network of the Gasunie Transport Services, which is located adjacent to the Q16-Maas site. Condensate is transported by pipeline to the Maasvlakte Oil Terminal (MOT), also located next to the site, LPGs are offloaded from the site by trucks.
First gas and LPG were produced in April 2014, only 2.5 years after discovery of the field. The gas treatment plant has a total capacity of 1 million m3/day wet gas and currently produced until early 2016 at a plateau of 940,000 m3/day. In 2016, Hardegsen formation was plugged off after water breakthrough and the well currently produces at lower rates from the Roet formation.
